Cleveland Clinic has named Sarah Hatchett as its new senior vice president and chief information officer.

WHY IT MATTERS
Hatchett had served as interim chief information officer at Cleveland Clinic since August 2023, when the health system's then-CIO Matthew Kull left for Inova Health System.

As interim CIO, Hatchett had already earned experience with a portfolio of responsibility including oversight of over $500 million in ongoing projects, health system integrations, hospital constructions, capital projects and IT operations.

Previously, Hatchett had served as the clinic’s associate CIO, where she oversaw its Enterprise Applications and Growth portfolio.

She has also led information technology integrations across several hospitals joining the Cleveland Clinic health system – including Mercy, Martin Health and Indian River hospitals.

Hatchett has also led the system's Electronic Health Records Transformation program and helped align supporting programs, processes and strategic plans across Cleveland Clinic.

Prior to her time in Ohio, Hatchett held other healthcare leadership roles at NYC Health + Hospitals, Sutter Health and Epic.

THE LARGER TREND
Among just some of Cleveland Clinic's recent news: its participation, along with more than a dozen other health systems, in the Trustworthy & Responsible AI Network, or TRAIN. (Recently, Hatchett's colleague, Chief Analytics Officer Albert Marinez, offered Healthcare IT News some advice for AI success.)

Cleveland Clinic has also been a leader recently with quantum computing, launching its Quantum System One platform with IBM, innovating new supercomputer use cases and making quantum power available to other healthcare startups.

ON THE RECORD
"In healthcare, technology plays a crucial role in enhancing patient care, improving operational efficiency and driving better outcomes," said Hatchett in a post this week on LinkedIn announcing her new role. "As we move forward, my focus will be on fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and continuous improvement, while always safeguarding our platform.

"I am filled with optimism and excitement for the future," she added. "Together, we can overcome any challenge and seize every opportunity to advance our mission of providing world class care."
